good question...and beatiful drawing! Never seen an owl in my life, you see... I'm glad to hear that you enjoy my "exotic" blog and thanks for your kind comment
And I've never slept under mosquito netting... but then again, for some odd reason, they never bite me... bad blood I guess:))) they do put some great welts on my kids though:( Thank you Aynaku...and you're welcome, anytime!
Owls and ghosts...ah, all we need now is a black cat and some tall hats...heheh!
Aren't they just something to see? I haven't had the luck to spot one in the wild, but I often hear them when I take the dog out at night or very early in the morning. It always gives me a thrill, and I find myself hooting back at them. I hope you and your family are well - I do miss seeing your posts!
Carla, the second one I saw this summer actually made me think of you... Sometimes I wouldn't get home from work untill about 4 in the morning. I was outside looking at the stars with bleary eyes when a lighter shadow flew over and landed on a fairly low branch in the pecan tree. The street-light from across the way lit up the outline of a great owl... It must have lit me a bit too because the owl suddenly stumbled backwards as if shocked to see me and without missing a beat, flew gracefully with merely the smallest whisper of air and wings into the apple tree deeper into the yard. It landed on the branch your wand came from and then looked around as if to say, yes, much more comfortable here!
Pal...bird brains!bird brains! HEHEHE I heard one rusty old crow in the early dawn yesterday, made the day better for its' croak!
You've really captured the owl-essence. When I was growing up on the ranch, and as recently as ten years ago in the large empty lots next to us waiting for houses (which, unfortunately, came), I had the wonderful fortune of being able to watch some tiny burrowing owls. Truly a joy in life.
OOOoohhh! Twizzelman... lucky you! tinys... they are something special. Barn owls, screech owls and great horned owls are what we have here. Houses don't mean the end of wildlife if the people in them use just a bit of common sense... at the front of this house is one of the busiest streets in town, but in back it's almost a zoo:))) Squirrls, rabbits, chipmonks, possums, raccons, little snakes, all kinds of birds and even a fox. I just make sure to keep some drinking water around and know that in late spring when everything looks like the critters should have no problems, they are starving(a little food put out to tide them over keeps everyone happy) There is an apple tree ,pecan tree a pear and a couple of small apricot trees. I leave a little brush out for cover and don't have everything mowed to death. I like pumpkins and so does "the gang" so I plant them and let nature take its' course. I've had almost all these animals come right up to me at one time or another and most of them feed and drink just a few feet away with no fear. I was pretty thrilled about the owl because it was huge and I'm not sure of course, but I think it was a great horned owl.
SHE'S BACK!!!! yEAAAAAAAH! :) I'm so glad to see you back! Even Anonyghost is out for the occasion! MY OH MY! And with another so nice creation! :)))) They are wonderful birds aren't they?!!!
Hello Merlinprincesse!! Thanks so much for the "welcome back". Made me feel ever so special:)))) I will keep on posting but I don't think I'll be doing IF very much... to be honest, the new 'improvements' have seemed to take the fun out of it for me. I liked the nice sense of surprise when I clicked on a name before, like opening a present. Now it feels more like shopping.
Lilah, I agree with you about the new IF format. Luckily, I came across the link to the page that just lists the names and numbers, and it is more fun to just click and see. Here it is:
Thank you Lee, I've always had a thing for owls... you have to admit, they are just pretty cool birds:)))
Guess WHO just had a birthday Alina,I'm at that age when birthdays are a good and bad thing!!! I'm how old???!?! NO WAY!!! 'Fraid so, hehehe...*cough* ackh!
Hi Chuang! Thank you so much for the welcome back! The ones I saw in real life were in the twilight and dark.. though I wish, wish, wish I could have shared those moments with you... there is something magical about owls in the dark.
AscenderRisesAbove Oooh, cute puppies! Thanks for the link! (I got lost for awhile just looking at puppies:)I don't think you can keep an owl as a pet. There are some wonderful birds you can own though, but they are a lot of work...birds are not as easy to keep as one might think. They need Lots of attention.
Yes!! And it's where I want to stay! I haven't started painting yet as I've been working on two other projects, but it won't be too much longer(paint or perish...or at least get cracked around the edges!!) Is that what all the hooting is about? No wonder it sounds a little sad. Albina the white,or pink...hehehe...so happy to hear from you and thank you so much for the welcome home:)
I live "in the sticks", so I get to see a lot of wildlife. I would always go to Illo Fri through my bookmarks, and then one day I happily realized the Illo Fri link on my blog was the old one.
