...in a remote and forgotten land, lived a creature of such girth and ferocity that even the bravest of men would not attempt to defeat it.

All the best tales have remote lands and fearsome dragons!

I love the upward spiraling of this piece, and the way the rock echoes the shape of the dragon. It's almost as if they are united. This is beautifully done...lovely colors, fine technique...truly wonderful work:>

Holly,I'm glad you liked it! Thank you for visiting and commenting!

Tony, Thank you so much! I really appreciate getting feedback!

Carla, I have really come to love friday in such a short period of time. It is so wonderful to hear from people who's opinions I respect. I love putting in layers of ideas in my work, and I am impressed when someone catches me at it:))) Thank you

Giles, I love them too and have been trying since I was a teenager to do one that I liked, this is the first time I've come close(pure dumb luck!) I sculpted one that I liked but it lost two turrets in the firing process...I put those lost turrets here:)))You made me feel like a success, thank you!!!

Rubio2d,when I was a kid my grandmother gave me a book that had a picture of a dragon wrapped around the top of a mountian. I had nightmares about that dragon... but loved it too!! There is a frog down there in those trees, do you think he is going to have a remote chance of rescuing the princess?

Funny Farmer,I'm so glad I started blogging too!! You people have made my world richer by far! It is so awesome to be involved in a project like this, I am grateful to everyone who makes this happen every week. You have a great sense of humor... just what is needed to conquer dragons:)) Thank you for making me feel welcome instead of lost.

Anonymous, you might find yourself "written" into a future adventure!! Thank you and you're most very welcome.

Miss Sam Duffy, not near as much as I enjoyed looking at your work, you had me laughing out loud!! Thanks for your comment!

RSC,¡Gracias! ¡El agujero en el mountian será la caída del dragón!

Catnapping, you can be the princess up there in that top window... sorry about the frog in the woods:)) Thanks for the comment, I'll send a really handsome prince along, maybe one disguised as a farmer...:)))

Mr Musgrave, You sir, just made my day!!! Respect and THANK YOU. I owe Ray big time for talking me into this:))

I love the rock formation, with the hole in the middle and the bits of rock falling off makes the structure seem fragile. And then you have this wonderful dragon curled around his treasure, his castle. Which is statuesque and beautifully white. Its all just wonderful! I will be coming back to view more treats.

The Unknown said...

Poor dragon seems lonely. Like when you finish eating your best friends there is no one to talk to?
love

LDahl said...

Queen Tut, thank you... the hole in the rock holds the heart of the dragon. All is fragile, yes, in time.

The Unknown, everyone makes mistakes that are hard to undo:)))
Thanks for visiting love.

I really like this image. It reminds me a bit of the work of the famous Dutch painter / illustrator Anton Pieck.

Great work, keep it up and keep blogging.

I love your work! This is great and I completely agree.

Metin Seven,Anton Pieck? Wow, thanks for the great compliment! Here there was an amusment park with a small house in it, like the ones he designed. My kids liked it as well as I did as a child.
I have seen so many pieces of great work the last two weeks, so many creative ideas!

your work so plays with my imagination and i'm back a little girl reading thick fairy tale books... illustrated by indeed people like Anton Pieck, Rie Cramer and Arthur Rackham (though i found him later)...

i love your castle!

LDahl said...

Virginiajoe, Thanks! You can love the dragon, but at a distance, just to be safe.

Merlinprincesse, cute..MMMMMM.. no, you are right, this one isn't in the cute category. Just a dragon doing what dragons do.

Leezy, thank you, I'm so happy you visited!

Openroundtop, this is the first castle I have done that almost was what I wanted it to be... not a lot of them around here to draw:))) When I was a kid, I pretended the grain elevators were castles with dragons flying overhead...if the farmers could only have seen:))))

LDahl said...

Aravis, Thank you , I really appreciate your comment.

vfm4, Anton Pieck, Rie Cramer and Arthur Rackham...the age of Kings... even to be remotly linked with them makes me smile. My favorite thing to do is helping "grownups" time-travel back to when their worlds were new and anything was possible! The Big Kids Club:)))

Smook, thank you, thank you! So happy you came to visit. My family and friends are pretty used to what I do, so I rarely hear anything. It's nice to not feel so alone with the dragons:)))

Alina Chau,I think your work is magical too,I'm very touched you said that! Thank you. ( nothing like a heartfelt WOOO to make your day:)

kg, I'm really glad he did too! But he isn't going to get me to write a novel in one month!! NO frigging way:)))
Your favorite so far...*wow* thank you so very much, wow. I loved your Sammy cheeto bad boy with jacks too. Sitting in a corner wasn't all that bad if I remember right, dream time which wasn't interrupted by chores:)))

Wow! I like this piece a lot. I had just seen a photo of a Bohemian bracelet in the form of a dragon. This is very reminiscent of it.

LDahl said...

Thank you Chuang Shyue Chou! A dragon bracelet...what was it made of? I really appreciate you taking time to comment:)It is so nice to know what other artists like or find interesting.

YES YES, remote lands and fearsome dragons! And wonderful pictures!

I once lived in a commune and everyone in the commune wrote a story entitled The House Dragon (eg: Mary's House Dragon, Peter's House Dragon, Becky's House Dragon) and we posted them all on the wall in the entryway for visitors to read.

Mary :-)

PS, dreamweavers are welcome to my dreams.
