You're right! Nothing is freeeee ....
He looks pleasurably wicked! Love his belly lump, malevolent smile and your use of coffee during the image's creation };-}

As I sit her wondering does she have a mean streak?
Nah just a sense of humor. It does make me chuckle.
Love the fiendish smile and the background work.

Nice--I love the dark spin.

Oh dear-hope he was good. The cat does not look remorseful in the least. I love the extra birdy bits laying around. Well at least he ate it instead of dropping it on your foot like my cat used to do when I opened the door! Twisted but fun. Cheers!

Great illo and very funny! It's how I imagine my cats would look if they ever got to the birds that visit our balcony.

Regina said...

Bad Bad Bad little kitty. Poooor little birdy. I do have to say that while I was thinking "oh how horrible", I was laughing at the same time. Yes we are all a little twisted. Love it!

Thanks for the grin. (Don't tell my cat.)

LOL...I hear birds can be rather tasty. Great job.

Queen Tut said...

Haha, he is rather nasty!

No, I promise you, it was not the Pimpolha bird!! No actual birds were hurt in the making of this illo:)

Someone has been a bad influence one me...
I wonder who? LOL

Oh, I love your drawing with the doorknob and the missing photo.

vfm4
I don't mean to be, sometimes it just creeps up on me...:)))

EXACTLY!!
It all costs, and sometimes the price is pretty dear. Freedom is often lost to those that only care for themselves and have no remorse for those they destroy. Birds are not free, they have their rules and restrictions, they work hard and struggle to raise their families. They often come to horrible ends ... and yet, they continue to sing.

Toni Kelly
I do have a rebellious streak...well...and, um, also sometimes a wicked sense of humor, that mostly is controlled but sometimes it just gets away from me. LOL

Harrison,
Tastes good with Catchup!
Thanks for the remark on the text!

Ron,
Thank you very much!!

Merlinprincesse
Hehee! Glad you liked the monster cat!

Holly
I never have seen a remorseful cat... defiant if you were to say "Bad kitty," he'd just lick his leg in disgust...

Urban Convert
Thank you, and they would leave you pieces-parts to clean up!!

Creative Kismet
I was thinking "oh, how horrible even as I did it" I did it anyway...does that make me horrible?

Andrea
I won't tell, I promise not a word, but your cat will know anyway...cats always know.

Tony
Just like chicken!! It was freeing and fun,
ok, I admit it, twisted I am. LOL

Queen Tut
He is nasty, he gobbled up the poor birdie's freedom. He had a bad kittenhood.

Aha! The old food chain in action! It's a rather disturbing image, but who better to take it on than you? I love his fiendish, bat-like grin and the bits of bone and feather. I can only hope it was the bird who pooped on my newly-washed car:>

steve said...

Wonderfully wicked grin. Luv it !
:-D

Janet said...

Love all of your illos, but this is the best!(oh, does that mean I'm evil, too?)

Anonymous said...

Imagine if cats could fly };-}

LDahl said...

Carla,
It was the rude bird that pooped on your clean car...also I have it from a good informant that it was seen pillaging other bird nests for snacks. It had to be stopped!

Steve
Thanks... it was a doodle I did while I was thinking "Free" as a bird, I could tell he was thinking about free-range bird:)))

Janet
Yes, it does mean you are evil too...I think I like you:)))
I like your blog, I really like the photos that you have taken of your farm. Thanks for visiting and commenting.

We would have to put litter boxes up in trees or Carla would have cat poop on her clean car... euwwww!!

Clever idea, love the illo!! The expression of the cat is very wicked!! HA ! HA !!

Wilnara said...

That is such a shame! Poor Birdie! But, I do love the look on the kittie's face! So vindictive! I wouldn't want to meet him in a dark alley! I hear him now just snickering!!!- Great twist to this weeks theme!

LDahl said...

Alina Chau
Thank you, I'm happy to see it made you laugh:))) It is fun to just be a bit onery now and then!

Wilnara
Yeah, he's a rotter! I've seen cats like this though. I guess I should mention I love cats and birds... and squirrels. I feed and water them all and have a bit of a rep as a "Snow White". I love watching crows and blackbirds, they have so much personality.

Hahahaha, thank you! I laughed out load at this one.

Jules said...

Oops, as well as out "loud".

You are most welcome... and you gave me a chuckle too!! so thank you!!!

Hee hee what a diabolical kitty!! Did you do your lettering freehand or is that a font? Thanks so much for your thoughtful comments on my blog. I have really grown addicted to Illustration Friday for many reasons, not the least of which is the encouragement from nice persons as yourself. I also like that my portfolio is growing by leaps and bounds! Have a great holiday yourself - I look forward to your next post!

LDahl said...

Amy,
I didn't hand letter, it is two fonts. I agree completely with you, IF is great, for many reasons, but my favorite is getting to meet so many cool and talented people that are positive and open to all kinds of ideas.
Thanks for stopping by!

LDahl said...

Haaaaa!!! ...? huh? euwwwwww!
You are as bad as I am....HHHAAaaa!
Thanks Tony!:))) You really gave me a laugh!

Ian T. said...

Aaaaah! We have a feral cat living in the bush around our place at the moment, and I'm sure it's eating a lot of native birds... so this sort of hit a nerve.

You make a good point though - freedom can be overrated :).

LDahl said...

Ian T.,
I know what you mean, I love cats, but cats do what cats do, sometimes to our sorrow!
I just meant, free isn't always what it seems to be and most always it comes with a price.

Shano said...

So alarmingly clevah. And funny. And sick. But funny and sick in a good way.

Andrea said...

LOVE IT!! That cat has such a great expression on his face!

Andrea said...

her face?

LDahl said...

Shano
I think the fact it was funny,is what made it seem twisted! Something about a gleeful cat:)))

Big A
Thanks! Yes it is a "him", I've even discovered who he is since I posted this... sometimes you notice something without actually "seeing" it, until later... and then you go"ah HA", that is where I've seen that before!
