Trees and Dreams

I cannot begin to tell you what this means to me. Even though I live in the city my neighborhood had a section of land that was fenced in and full of trees. The property belonged to a paper company that closed down a few years ago. Well because of so called progress the land was sold and all this week and last they have been cutting down the trees. My backyard birds have diminished and the deer that was in this area now need to find a new home. I am so saddened by all this. It was great having our own little wilderness in the city proper. Now it is gone. I'm hoping my birds will find new homes near by.

Oh Toni..... that's awful! I really, really feel for you... I HATE seeing trees cut down! It must be very painful for you to watch. My farm was bulldozed flat and all the trees burnt(and the house I grew up in)... I just happened to visit (after not going back for ten years) on the day they were burning them....I cried until I was sick.

Hey Ro... I mean Anonymous! Heheh!

Cream, I thought it was,but sad too. Those stubby little wings and the tear of happiness...some dreams cost so much.

I saw the stubby wings as the beginnings of full-sized wings, and the tear of joy showing how happy he was that his dream was on its way to being fully realized. The tear actually made me feel tears as well. Maybe I missed something because I'm still half asleep, but I think he flew off into the mist ecausewe can't follow another person's (or bird's) dreams. The little bird has a face that makes me want to hug it! What a really wonderful animation - technically and conceptually!

Your tree painting below is beautiful! That would take me all day to do...if I could even do it!

Happy New Year to you Lilah! I wish you all the best!

Hi Carla, Happy new Year to you too!
I like how you see that we can't follow anothers dreams. Turn your sound up and you hear a little puff of a thud at the end of the video.. the Kiwi had put those trees there, he knew what was at the end, but even so, he did it. He was willing to pay the price for the moment of his dream coming true... or perhaps his moment of being greater than just a Kiwi.

Dear Ldahl,
I am looking forward to next week when I will have more time to enjoy your new postings. Visitors and family keep me from the computer (and I don't complain about that!):
All the best for the New Year to you and your loved ones and many happy returns in the coming days (I enjoy any comment by you and apologize for being so far behind with mine),
love,
Merisi

Oh I just loved that video! I didn't have my speakers fully on so I didn't hear the thud either. I wish I didn't know that happened, but as you said, it was worth it to him to have lived his dream. Man, there's a lesson here for all of us. And a great message for a new year. Thanks for sharing! And I also LOVE your painting below. Beautiful.

Ok, at the risk of not sounding as tough as I really am... Yeah, it was really touching. I love the thought that we can really do anything we want to do. I also love that he itched himself. :)

Intense! I almost cry each time I see it! :) To die for one's dream..... But I prefer to think that death is NOT the end and that KIWI flies forever in Heaven!!!! :)

I'm so happy you could see this too! That is what is so cool about the arts...enrichment. Ideas and feelings are shared that cannot be expressed in any other way.
I so hope you check back here...because I think you would really appreciate this video if you haven't seen it yet. 70 megs and worth it:

Checked back but the 'gang' isn't happening!~ HAHAHHAA must be 'Quicktime' ... I'll try again later. Technology helps with the sharing of ideas and feelings too ;) Thanks!

Yeah...when it works! Hehehe!
It is a Quicktime video if I remember right. More birds...or at least bird like creatures, I do hope you get to see it. I had forgotten about it for awhile, couldn't find my bookmark for it and could only remember Black Heart...and if you Google that you get some strange stuff!
Ah well, finally found my bookmark...and found out I was so close: Just needed the GANG on the end> BWWWwwahahaha...how did I for get the Gang?!?
It is almost cold here today...just a few weeks ago it was in the triple digits. The birds are finally gathering up to leave... I almost wish I was going with them.
