I don't know anything about painting seascapes(Kansas)
......but I thought it would be fun to try a fast one.
That just goes to show what do I know! Ok, it was a
little bit fun, but mostly, I feel like I would have to do a
couple of hundred of these before I figured out anything
about beaches and water... better luck next time!

It looks REALLY cold ... I'm not familiar with cold seascapes but they do exist. Your painting is very atmospheric which I like. It's about 40 degrees celcius on our shoreline at the moment :)

This so captures a misty, stormy day at the ocean. It takes me back to my childhood summers in Montauk, Long Island...before it became all glitzy and ritzy. My brother and I would wander way down to the distant point at the "end" of the beach (although it really just kept going) where it was wild and deserted... no houses on the dunes, no sunbathers. There we saw swallows flying in and out of their little holes high up on the cliffs, sand sharks swimming near the shore, horeshoe crabs washed up on the beach, all kinds of beautiful shells...and we'd lie on our backs in the hot sand listening to the gulls and the waves rolling in over the small rocks at the water's edge. Thank you...I just time traveled!

When our sky is overcast our lake front looks just like this. Now add some beach glass for sparkle and your all set.

Lilah I don't think there is anything you cannot do.

Ohhhh, I want to go on vacation to your seascape! It is a breathtaking image--I can feel the spittle from the sea and hear the waves crashing. xo

Is it the season? Everywhere I turn, images of the sea! I love the sea in the winter, walking along those shorelines you painted seems like heaven.
Do you leave near the water?
Landbound greetings from
Vienna,
Merisi
(Thank you for your sweet comment about not leaving my camera at home. Would be a real downer for me, anyway, Vienna is so full of poetry, impossible to hold on to every glimpse of it without it *g*)

Sorry, I meant "Do you live" - sometimes I type in one language, my subconscious spelling in another or such. :-)

man, it feels really cool and refreshing, I think you did a very nice job painting it, very nice wash of muted colours and composition

It's very pretty and it makes me want to run on the beach and feel the stormy water splash on my feet.

Second thoughts ... vomit!

All the misty grey is very reminiscent of our Pacific NW beaches. You are brave. I'm not sure I'd dare tackle all that water!

This is simple and evocative. Just the simplicity of the scene speaks volumes.

Really soft and subtle colors. That's beautiful!

I can see the sea from here! Yeah!!

Cool! Sure doesn't look like a painting from somebody who doesn't know much about it! The thumbnail could even be mistaken for a photo. Nice work.

You are being missed!

Your blog always feels like a comfy little cottage home, so friendly.

This piece is really calm, I love the atmosphere and heavy mist feel. I think my favorite part is the wet reflections! Nice rendering. Glad to see more of these.

Aynaku....and I'll want a signed copy!!!!!!!!

Anonymous...I bet it's warm there now, freezing here of course, but it's been worse(like yesterday:)))

Carla you're welcome:)
Your memory.......I envy, envy, envy, envy......etc.....heheh!

Toni...see, we have lakes (half dried up for now:( yea drought...at least we have had some snow-ice-rain this winter... but we are in trouble.
Oh....I can't throw pots. I kill them *giggle*. I also can't do what you do.

Alina Chau, thanks, I need to visit you and see what wonderful stuff you've been up to. I know how busy you are so I'm always touched and pleased when you post a comment. Thank you again for taking the time:)

Hellcat, you might get the fire put out in your nether regions... wet sand on your under-world and all! *giggle* *vomit* *Excusez moi*

Jose Darias thank you!

Cate, let's all go!!! Vacation good, yes!

Merisi, I saw what you meant. The sea was everywhere:)
(I live just about as far from any ocean or sea as possible... unless you count the one that was here oh, about a million years ago.

Tony LaRocca, Ok, you're invited!!! BYOS...bring your own snorkel!

Omar from Peru...thank you!

Robin Hall, well at least I tried... I've been looking at water differently now... I may try again.

DeeJay, bless you!

Hellcat, you're a smart cat!! Do go further inland, keep those paws dry!

Tara...I wasn't very successful, but tackle it I did..... the bravery consisted of actually posting it:)))

Chuang working that fast almost/does force you to keep it simple......a very good way to learn what is important.

Sebastien thank you, it would have been better if I understood water, but I don't ...I need to bite the bullet and study it even though it makes my eyes cross.

BoiledEggInADeckChair.... LUCKY!!!

Marcobucci, you sir, are too kind. Thank you.

Merisi thank you for the snowflake.....I am missing out too, but deadlines are deadlines...first the work and then the play..... I do take moments to peek in and see what others are up to, but between the flu that I had and the hours needed to catch up.......behind, behind....(as I write this now, I've finally caught up and made all deadlines and now for a few days it is play and chat with my friend and maybe just maybe start a project for me!!! (That depends on how much time I get until duty calls again)

ValGal, How I love Oregon... the place I saw the ocean for the very first time in my life......I was terrified (well I was only about three and I had no idea if the water started small and got greater or if it was like at the swimming pool, deep all at once. I knew about whales, so I knew it got very deep. Needless to say when my parents tried to put me in the water, I freaked! :)))

Cinderelly...in my next life, I'm going to grow up on the coast!

Thank you Gerald, you have given me courage to try another one:)

Merlinprincesse, cold mist I know....we have all kinds of weather here, just not huge amounts of water to go with it (we even have sea-gulls and pelicans from when this was an inland sea.)

Oliver, you are one of my favorite artists(I've got quite a list after blogging for over a year) and this comment of yours made me feel so super, I can't thank you enough! You are welcome at the Dahl cottage anytime, pull up a chair, can I get you something to drink? Tea, coffee, inferior wine? hehe! How about some really nice Mead? Just shove the monsters out of your way, they don't bite:)))
