C'EST PAS FACILE D'ÊTRE VERT
(IT AIN'T EASY BEING GREEN.)*
Standing at the cross-roads
Of the Six Ways,
The withered moor! ~Issa

(The Six Ways are the six conditions of sentient life,
hell, that of the hungry ghosts, animals, nature spirits,
human beings, gods.)

Oh, he looks like a little wrangler! This guy has something up his sleeve--I'll bet he's underestimated because he looks like a quiet, thoughtful soul, but I'd guess he has had his share of mischief!

I miss you! I've written you a zillion emails (both in my head and on the computer--was having trouble with my account and mail kept disappearing). I'm going to drop you a line this weekend! Have a lovely Easter.

XO

Oh! Dear Lilah! These lines are not from me.... I stole them from Kermit the Frog...Hhehehehe! :) But thanks for telling me! :))))

I can see a glint of 'something' in his eye and it isn't green! Imagine he could blend with the nature spirits if he accompanied the ones amongst the greenery but they might not agree (jealousy) :)

I'm sure I ought to recognise him...

You are so good at making the not normally visible, visible and real and solid.

I expected to see Kermit peeking out from under that hat, mon petit chou.

Is that Miss Piggy lying in the background? ;o)
Green with envy, I am!

Terrific work! Wonderful colors...

Andrew Thornton said...

Really nicely done. He's got a very fleshed out feel to him. I can't help but notice that you're wearing a hat not all together very different from his... hmmmm... whatever could that mean.

Very cool picture, it looks like Yoda's badass cousin. Nice work.

Cate, it's great hearing from you!!!

Merlinprincesse, but they look so much better in French:)))(which is what I swiped)

Anonymous, no it isn't is it...hehe! Have you ever heard of Nigel Cooke? I just saw some of his work today. Wow, too cool!

Thank you D!

Ah Toni, it's just me playing around... I should get my head together and get some work done:)))

Queen Tut... up to no good I would guess... he bites for sure!

Michelle Lana, thank you!

Aynaku, I stay up too late too often... I got my days and nights mixed up because of the job I had last year and I can't seem to get back to days.

Caroline, I need to get better at it though...I am going at it sideways.

Pati, Thank you:)

Perriette,hehe!

MD... I think if you ever ran into him, he would be dragging a rabbit or bird by it's leg... I would have painted him that way but everyone would say o poor bunny! See shifty look...maybe next time...heheh!

Andrea ...he would probably do terrible things to 'ol Kermit...we wouldn't want to see.

Cream, he's probably just after her money...hehehe!

Digital Scott, thanks, just trying some new things.

Thanks Steve!

Andrew, hrump!!! Some people Look too close, some people might get visitations from wee nasties in the night!!! Heheh!

Bobdylan8 ... heheh! I never even thought of Yoda...but you're right... I can see Yoda doing his lightsaber thing and then this dude just punching him in the nose, saying sarcasticly, "Hurt, that didn't!"

studio lolo said...

I'd say he's of the "hungry ghost" type. Shifty little fellow, gazing off to the right (his left) and right at YOU I might add. Of course he may just be one of those Peskies that come out at twilight. Whatever, whomever, he's wonderful!

Merisi said...

Has the looks of a birricchino, as the Italians would say (sweet, but possibly up to some mischief).
Thank you for your always so encouraging and sweet comments, I am glad if you enjoy your visits over there at my place. ;-)
In little more than 12 hours I shall be off to Venice, this time with family in tow. :-)
Have a great week,
Merisi

Your munchkins are back. This one is mysterious. I think I'll stand back and watch from afar. Just to make sure he has a good disposition. Glad to see your posts!

LDahl said...

Studio Lolo, Yes, he's pesky, but he's right to keep his eye on me... I might be even peskier!!! Hahaha!

Merisi, Venice again? NOw I'm green!!!!! Safe trip, hurry back! Photos, we want photos.

Simon, not without your trusty can of bug spray....Bbbbwwaaaaaaaahahahah!

Paul, I know he is:))) Oh French, it is spoken music. A phrase is a meal. I wish I was fluent, but am happy to even know a small amount.

Anonymous isn't that the truth!!! I thought you would appreciate.

Tara, if I can make time in this world a bit more fun for anyone, then I feel it was time well spent. I'm all about the fun! I really believe you learn more when playing.

Wilnara..... they are never a danger to someone like you. He would take his hat off and mind his manners:)

simon said...

oh Lilah! now you ARE being runcible! (ha ahahahah!).... ;o)

OH! I love him! Very original for Green - makes me think of summer:)

Someday St. Kermit will receive the respect that is due.
Being 'vert' is a many nuanced label these days...from the GORACLE to YULE GIBBONS (remember the tree eater) being green is all the rage..everybody's doin' it!

I find myself becoming overwhelmed by 'vert' related words..
vertical verdant vertigo vertebrate
verticil and of course: Les Verts est un parti politique français écologiste de gauche..
but it's not 'gauche' anymore,
is it?.

Janice Ykema said...

It looks like he might have taken off with *your* hat .
Though he smiles , something exudes into ones conscousness, something slightly shifty and sinister.... I don't want to run intothis fellow in the dark! This is a very cool illustration that definitely evokes an emotional response.

Great piece! Thanks for sticking by me through the sporadic posting, etc. Your thoughtful comments are always so encouraging and SO welcome. Thank you, thank you. :)

Tony LaRocca said...

that's one bad-ass green dude! You're right- it ain't easy!

LDahl said...

Simon, I love that word, runcible! Wouldn't that make a good name for a character....Runcible Rose.

Thank you Joy!

Homo Escapeons, heheh!Yes I remember Yule Gibbons, the first health nut...he dropped dead while jogging, didn't he? I think we will all be green, one way or another, before it is all said and done.

Janice, Nah, I still have my hat!

M.B. Thank you and you're welcome,

Tony LaRocca, understatement of the year!

Thanks for the comment on my "Fortune" post. I've been checking to see if you'll paint Ignatius spinning Fortuna's wheel :)

The shadow patterns on this one are nice. Good mood!

yes you are right Lilah! Runcible is a GREAT word :o)

carla said...

What a face on this fellow! He has such a mischievous glint in his eye, and his hands almost look like they'er reaching for invisible guns! Perhaps I'm just profiling him based on his green skin color? Maybe he's just a fun loving little sprite... and maybe that's why it ain't easy being green!

Thanks for stopping by... I haven't been making many blog rounds for a while... I've been busy painting for my show! Hope you're well, Lilah:>

LDahl said...

Studio Lolo that's clever...very clever, I need to reread that book!

Thank you Marco, I keep learning new stuff from you:)

Simon so is spork!!! Heheh!

Carla, I'm impressed! I even had his guns picked out, dueling pistols, but I changed my mind and didn't give him any as I thought he looked like enough trouble just as he was. I'm doing a bit better, and trying to catch up on things that have been put on hold for far too long! I've been sticking to my guns and I'm starting to see a little progress...yeah!!!

LDahl said...

Oliver...pixies stole your post! I have visited your charming town though. Any word yet on Poor Mr. Farley's recovery?

Merisi said...

I wonder how this fellow would cope with all that green here in Vienna right now. Getting greener with envy, or getting a green attack?
I think that fellow looks more than runcible, outright cunning, and not the delicately pleasing way. *and run*

I think you are right Merisi!

Thank you Eugene!Hi Tara, Yes I did.

Hi Pal...still hanging in there:)

Thanks Sue...I know the UK had it's share of floods this year too. They are more horrible than one can believe. They can really trash one's life... for quite awhile. We've had a mess all over these mid-states this year.
Thanks for your good thoughts!
