My daughter-in-law was in this today. She was in the back of a store, either in a cooler or between big refrigeration units. She was texting my daughter who had me on the phone, we three rode it out together as the back side of this system roared through Kansas City. Her text of "All Clear" was most welcome to say the least.
Love spring, except for the weeds and the extreme weather.
Every year the clouds seem to have a "style" for that season, this is an example of this year's.
Top picture was taken at the first part of June, two lower ones taken out the back door two nights ago.

June 21: Forty three Tornadoes on the ground in Tornado Alley last night, more expected tonight. Good start for the summer don't you think? 1317 so far this year in USA and counting.

Man! Looks like the Emerald City is invading. Glad to hear you and yours made it out all right.
This looks as a hell, but it is beautiful picture!! And luckily with happy end for you and your relatives!
Good to hear your family is safe. I experience such a mixture of emotions viewing that photo. There's fascination, fear, amazement, respect even...wow. We're experiencing flooding here but nothing like this.
When I saw the news some days ago, and heard "Kansas" I thought of you.
Is it my imagination or is there a face in one of the clouds, in the second clump?
As Kim says...I'm looking at this pic. with awe, fear, deep respect.
I can't begin to imagine what you are all going through!
We finally got a break as the weather turned colder... right now in the state we have drought in parts of it, prairie fires and flooding just north of us and tornado crap in between.... I always say "You have to like weather to live here." :-D
Actually that picture while looking scary and all, isn't what you would would be all that nervous about, that is something you would get hail out of but not a funnel cloud. The really nasty stuff would be lurking in the clouds behind it. Every day in spring is a new adventure.
GG...I see the face you are talking about.
Amazing photo. Yikes!
Wow I would be wearing rubber shows just so I wouldn't get electrocuted... so that's just summer weather eh? :)
geez! we have floods here in Aus at the moment ( again!)
Yeah Andrew, pretty typical along with drought, flooding and prairie fires all at the same time. :D
Simon, we're having some serious flooding this year too. Not where I am though. I really feel for people that go through that, nasty business trying to clean up and it seems to take forever to recover from.
This year the smoke from the Arizona fires coupled with a fire on our southern border has made the sunlight look like amber syrup and eyes itch and burn for weeks. They're predicting the fires will burn for at least two more weeks.
yes same here in the summer fire season.
Simon, the fires are still out of control but the jet stream has shifted(live right under it most of the year) It has moved enough to the south that we are getting a break from the smoke. Nothing like being miserable for a few weeks to appreciate it when you can breathe again and your eyes are not like sandpaper. :-)))
Also I think the flood waters are receding in some areas, I feel a little guilty that I'm so happy I wasn't one who had to clean up mud/damage and deal with the smell. If I was younger I would go and volunteer to help clean.
All I can do now is send my good thoughts their way.
yep I am the same lol! thanks for the email btw.
The cloud formations are astounding. Do you get that a lot over there?
Yes, we have a lot of extreme weather. Some years are worse than others, but once in awhile, we will have a great year... this year has been pretty nice.
The skies are just glorious. Good to hear that this year has been nice.
