I see the so much in here - from a baby's footprint to a dead sailor.. like the beginning and end of life all mixed up together. And all in the blink of an eye. I love the richness.
So glad someone can relate to "the pit" (thanks for your post by the way). I see that you like ol' Tom Waits. So good for the winter....isn't he? Dark nights with Tom. So deliciously feeding that pit. :) But wait, he is great in all seasons... The air is wet with sound The faraway yelping of a wounded dog And the ground is drinking a slow faucet leak Your house is so soft and fading as it soaks the black summer heat A light goes on and the door opens And a yellow cat runs out on the stream of hall light and into the yard Delicious indeed.
I found myself going back and forth from the painting to the poem and can only say this is what I consider a perfect union of poetry and visual. Is the poem yours? (had to delete prior comment due to poor typing skills)
You, my friend, are amazing. I see so much in this--my insecurity makes me wonder if I am not seeing the "right" things, but my intuition tells me that I'm seeing everything that I'm supposed to. I can't even imagine how your mind works, how you see details and shadows and contours and crevices, or how those things come together to create such meaning and significance.
As previous posters have said, I could look at this for hours. I am so thankful you share your work.
This is another piece - like The River - that speaks of time and timelessness to me...like putting your footprint in the sand only to have it fill with water when the next wave comes in. I love your shapes and the hints of other forms...I see wood and water, stone and shell, faces and eyes. The poem is enigmatic and allows us to ponder our own interpretations. It's beautiful!
On another note - your flower lady is at the framer's being matted and should be ready this week....and I'll send her off asap. I can't wait to see her all dressed up!
Anonymous(Detlef) I'm really pleased you like this one, I have painted these abstracts for years, my personal conversations.

carla Thank you Carla, I live in an area where people have trouble understanding anything that isn't painted on velvet, so it means so much to me to be able to show these and get positive feedback:))) (ok, so I'm kidding about the velvet paintings, but not by much!)
Now it's my turn to be late this week. There is so much depth in this painting. It totaly draws me in and i feel like exploring the caverns of the deep sea,

Organic and intriguing, can see shells, driftwood, sand, water. Seeing space as much as what fills it :)

I love the richness.
I love this ! There are many things that come out of this picture, sopes, fish, water. The use of color is candy to my eye. Great work!
So many ways to look at this one. Its both clever and magical. Every time I see one of your works it reminds me how powerfully talented you are.

Delicious indeed.
PS. Those were Tom's lyrics, not my own words, for those who read the above post....
This is a wonderful illustration. And it's true the UNknown does have a shell but inside I have a chocolate vegan cream filling.
love
Very capturing painting... a lot of things in it, so imaginating.
I can´t see a dead sailor though!
Very nice!
I see a shell. I see a hand. I see a dead fish. I see the bottom of the sea. And all our lost dreams. Stunning!
I'm captivated. You've left an impression and I can't help but, fall right in. Absolutely Beautiful!!!!

So much to see in this. It goes on and on deeper and deeper... Whoa. Nice.
This is quite stunning. I can't stop looking at it. I agree that it is very organic looking. Well done. Cheers!
Footprint, huh? Hmmm--I am seeing eyes and Lovecraftian creatures. Great job.
